Inspired by her baby
Rome With Me is a small batch, small business operating out of home on Vancouver Island, Canada. Kezia has been sewing her signature clothing line Screef since 2013. Now, over 10 years later, after having her first baby, she has been inspired to start her baby line. The name "Rome with me" comes from her daughter Romy, who has been on the move since leaving the womb. She is a fearless wonderer, roaming and exploring the world around her, with an unstoppable, curious demeanour.
The baby clothes are mostly sewn from Screef offcuts. Kezia had been saving bags of offcuts from her Screef business for many years hoping to use them for something one day, and well I guess that day has come. She is a nature lover and by using these bits of fabric, she is now creating unique and environmentally conscious clothing for the worlds next generation. She hopes to make a difference with her impact on the environment by having less waste, and every little baby step counts!
The pieces that are too small to use for baby clothes get donated to a local artist, Vanessa Cunningham who turns them into yarn. She uses a spinning wheel and mixes the colours with other thrums, turning them into beautiful, colourful yarn. Vanessa also uses her yarn to knit wonderful things to wear.
